Were you at BullHorn Engage?

This years’ Bullhorn Engage Conference was held from June 12 – 14 in Boston, MA with over 400 attendees. It was definitely the place to be!  As a Bullhorn Marketplace Partner, EmployStream was excited to get in on the action. If you weren’t able to attend, you missed out on some pretty exciting topics – but don’t worry I’m going to fill you in now. 

Here are some of the HOT topics that this years’ conference focused around: 

  1. How businesses continues to grow in the current and future economy and with the shortage of talent and labor
  2. Better “out-of-the-box” ways to gain & retain talent 

As stated by the research done by SIA, there is only moderate growth within the staffing industry of 4% due to the labor shortage.  And according to JP Morgan, there is also an increased projection of Recession Risk of 60% in 2020 and 81% in 2021.  This could highly impact the staffing industry as it did in 2009 with more mergers and acquisitions of smaller agencies.  

Building on that, many staffing agencies are having to offer different types of incentives to grow their talent pipeline, some are even offering upskilling and reaching out to passive candidates that are not typically in their database, groups such as new grads, vets, or the retired population.  Some are offering no-cost training in the skills that are in high demand in order to fill the jobs of their clients. 

Agencies also realize that not only is the human relationship crucial to the direct success of their business, so are modernized, easy-to-use tools for the ongoing communication required to get someone hired for a job (aka candidate engagement).  Outdated processes, systems, and candidate experiences are no longer acceptable to current talent pools – the process needs to be simple and engaging to use.  

As I spent 3 days attending sessions, talking to customers, and observing the energy of the main hall, I noticed people looking for a solution to help their business get to the next step.  New niche solutions to tie their business together and better build relationships with the candidates through automation of processes. This industry has so much to look forward to and we can’t wait to continue to revolutionize the space.
